Worship the King!

“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east and have come to worship Him.”  Matthew 1:2

Don’t you find it interesting that the King of the Jews, the Son of God, the Messiah was born and not very many knew about Him. The wise men had to ask, “Where is He?” Evidently many around Bethlehem and Jerusalem were spiritually blind to the miracle taking place around them. A few things sick out to me about the wisemen’s story.

The destination was worth the journey!

Not many would take such a journey. It was a risky thing to pack up your camels and leave your home to start heading East in hopes of finding what you’re looking for. Yet that’s exactly what the wisemen did!  Why?  Because the destination was worth the journey! They were willing to embark on the ultimate quest in order to find the ultimate gift.

The destination was worth an offering!

When they found Jesus, they found life. Their response was to offer Jesus something of worth. That’s exactly what worship is. They were willing to sacrificiallly give to Jesus because He is worth it!

The destination was worth their reputation.

The wisemen didn’t get caught up in what everyone else thought about them. They were willing to humbly bow before the lowly child as a sign of respect and authority.  They recognized the kingly presence of God, and gently submitted themselves at His feet.

As you reflect upon the birth of Jesus this season.  Remember He is worth the journey.  He is worth an offering.  He is worth your reputation.  Worship Christ the newborn King!!

Growing Forward,
